§ 36.06. Voting period.

  • (A)

    The Town of Longboat Key may hold early voting in the town clerk's office at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, Florida in accordance with state law and the procedures set forth below.

    (B)

    The Charter provides that if there are more than two candidates qualified for an elective office on the town commission, a preliminary election shall be held the last Tuesday of January.

    (C)

    The Charter provides that general elections shall be held in March.

    (D)

    If there is a preliminary election, and for all general elections, early voting may begin two Fridays prior to the preliminary or general election and may end the Friday before the preliminary or general election.

    (E)

    Early voting may occur during normal business hours on Monday through Friday and during advertised hours on the weekend.

    (F)

    Early voting shall be conducted utilizing county systems to provide consistency in voting; absentee ballots will continue to be handled by the county supervisors of elections offices.

    (G)

    The town clerk shall advertise in the local papers the dates and times for early voting.

    (H)

    Manatee and Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Offices shall be provided copies of this chapter.
